Hi everybody!

Off to Helsinki for Slush + Slush Music this week. Looking forward as Iโ€™ve already heard so many great things.

This week, Iโ€™m looking for contributions! Christmas time is coming โ€“ how do you plan your (non-seasonal) music releases around this time? Do you avoid certain days? How does it affect promotion and sales? What about in between Christmas and NYE?

If I get enough input, Iโ€™ll compile a piece. To submit, you can reply to this email or make a Medium post and send me the link. Please make sure your name, function, and company are included, so I can credit you (plus, optionally, a link to your personal Twitter profile). I canโ€™t promise Iโ€™ll include everyone, and wonโ€™t have time to do follow-up questions for clarification, so the more insightful, the better.

Have a great week everyone!

Love,
Bas

I have been quiet on the topic of UnitedMasters, because anyone can make an announcement, and itโ€™s much more interesting to look at results. However, hereโ€™s a good take on the matter.

The changing landscape

Spotify does, in fact, fill mood playlists with fake artists

Itโ€™s so odd that this music is even being referred to as โ€˜fake musicโ€™. Anyway, the companies are putting the listener at the center: as long as it fulfils their needs and desires in that context, then they go with whatever works best. This is an obvious in-road for artificial intelligence.
